About Sam

Sam was raised in Riverside and has been attending the Promise since 2018 and has been serving as an elder over discipleship groups since the beginning of 2023. Teaching the Bible and seeing God's people grow into disciples of Jesus is what Sam feels most passionate about, and he is thankful to play a part in seeing this happen at the Promise Church. 

From Monday to Friday, Sam works at his Alma Mater, Cal Baptist University, as an Academic Advisor for the School of Business. When not at work, you can find him hiking, running, reading at a coffee shop, or enjoying a meal with friends. 

An impactful verse that has shaped Sam's life is 1 John 5:3 which reads "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome". This verse talks about the type of life Christ died for us to have; not one of begrudging, dutiful obedience, but of doing His will gladly and willingly from the heart. This is the exciting goal of what it means to become a disciple of Jesus Christ; to keep the commands of God from the heart and by the Spirit.
