We Belong To Christ's Body

We Belong To Christ's Body, "Belong" series part 4, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.  13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body- Jews or Greeks, slaves or free- and all were made to drink of one Spirit.  14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.  15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body.  16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body.  17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?  18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.  19 If all were a single member, where would the body be?  20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.  21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."  22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,  23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,  24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it,  25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.  26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.  27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”

- 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

We Belong to God's Family

We Belong To God's Family, "Belong" series part 3, Mark 3:31-35

“And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.  32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, "Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you."  33 And he answered them, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"  34 And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers!  35 Whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother."

- Mark 3:31-35

We Belong to God's Building

We Belong to God's Building, "BELONG" Series Part 2, 1 Peter 2:4-9

“As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,  5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  6 For it stands in Scripture: "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."  7 So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,"  8 and "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.  9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

- 1 Peter 2:4-9

Saved to Belong

Saved To Belong, "BELONG" Series Part 1, Acts 2:41-47, 1 Corinthians 12:13

“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.  42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.  43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.  44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common.  45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.  46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

- Acts 2:41-47

“For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body- Jews or Greeks, slaves or free- and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

The Power of a Holy Life

The Power of a Holy Life, "HOLINESS" Series Part 5, Matthew 11:7-11, Mark 6:20

“As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?  8 What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.  9 What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.  10 This is he of whom it is written, "' Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.'  11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

- Matthew 11:7-11

“for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly.”

- Mark 6:20

Living Out Holiness

Living Out Holiness, "HOLINESS" Series Part 4, Philippians 1:18b-30

“Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,  20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.  21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.  22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.  23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.  24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.  25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,  26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.  27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,  28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.  29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.”

- Philippians 1:18b-30

Meeting Yourself in the Presence of the Holy

Meeting Yourself in the Presence of the Holy, "HOLINESS" Series - Part 3, Isaiah 6:1-8

“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!" 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!" 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for. 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

- Isaiah 6:1-8
