Our Leadership

I (Roy) received my call to pastoral ministry as an undergrad at UCLA.  I graduated in '99 with a B.S., and then attended Talbot Seminary in La Mirada, CA where I received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology in Bible Exposition.   I served as the Christian Education director and the college pastor for six years at The Garden Christian Fellowship in Chatsworth, CA.  I was ordained as a minister of The Missionary Church in September, 2008.  Jill, my wife, has degrees from Biola University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Cal State Northridge.  She works as a career counselor at Pomona College in Claremont, CA.  

Jill and I are not natives to Riverside.  However, God brought circumstances together, as only He can, and we now call it our home.  We have since grown to love Riverside.  Our passion is to live for Jesus in a way that blesses the city with the same blessings we have in Christ.  To get a break from church planting, we like to explore hiking trails by our home, read up on current events, and drive around discovering new parts of the city.  I also like to sneak away when I can to play basketball at UCR. 

We're so thankful God has called us to start The Promise Church and serve the people of Riverside.  We're excited to see His promises unfold for our church, the city, and the world.
