Our Core Values
Core values have to do with who we are. And who we are has everything to do with accomplishing God’s mission. So at The Promise we’re committed to practicing the following core values in order to accomplish God’s mission.
The CORE of our core values: THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is the good news that Jesus in His amazing grace took the punishment for our sins by dying on a cross. He did this out of love for us though we didn't love Him. He then rose from the dead to prove His power to forgive and save us. Now because of the gospel we have been reconciled to God, freed from performance-based religion, and we have open access to all the resources in Christ.
At the Promise we seek to practice our core values as an outflow of gospel-centered lives and community.
Our Core Values:
LOVING GOD
We value loving God by coming to Him just as we are through the gospel. We long to exalt and love Him through fellowship with His Spirit and obedience to His Word.
LOVING OTHERS
We value loving others both in the church and in the city. We seek to do this by building a diverse community of broken people brought together and healed by the gospel; and by serving the poor and hurting in the city.
MULTIPLYING DISCIPLES
We value “multiplying disciples” as God’s ordained means to bless the world in Christ and establish His glory. This is the end purpose of the gospel. We seek to train and send people to multiply disciples locally and globally.
RELYING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
We value relying on the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit is our only God-given resource to effectively love God, love others, and multiply disciples. The Holy Spirit is God’s most precious gift to us in the gospel. Without Him our efforts will be fruitless and our mission will fail.
