Our Beliefs

What We Believe

  • The Bible is our guidebook to know God and His will for our lives.  It was God-breathed.  Therefore it is error-free in the original writings, and it is the highest authority for all Christians and the church.
  • God is the all-mighty, all-knowing, all-present creator of the universe, perfect in love and holiness.   He's existed from eternity past as God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and yet remains one God.  He wants to have relationship with us and be involved in our lives.

  • Jesus Christ is God who became one of us; fully God and fully man.  He came to show us who God is and remove the sin-barrier between us and Him.  He now invites everyone to place faith in Him and know God.

  • The Holy Spirit is God's presence upon the earth today.  He comes to renew and live within people who place their faith in Jesus.  He comes to convict us of sin, teach us, comfort us, and empower us to do God's will.

  • Human beings are God's greatest achievement in creation.  We were made in God's likeness so we can have a love relationship with Him and do His will on the earth.  But because of sin, our relationship with God was broken.  Apart from Jesus, people no longer know or love God.

  • The Gospel is the good news that Jesus in His amazing grace took the punishment for our crimes by dying on a cross.  He did this out of love for us though we didn't love Him.  He then rose from the dead to prove His power to forgive and save us.  The gospel says in Jesus we're loved and considered good before we learn to love and do good.  The gospel says  in Jesus we can come to God and get our lives straight, rather than get our lives straight and then maybe come to God.  That's good news!

  • Salvation is knowing God and living eternally with Him.  The only way to be saved is to change our old sinful way of thinking, and put our complete trust in Jesus and the Gospel.  From that point on Jesus must become the leader of our lives.

  • The goal of spiritual growth is to become like Jesus.  The Bible says only God can make us like Jesus.  But we have to do our part like spending time with God daily, yielding our wills to God, depending on the Holy Spirit, and training ourselves to turn away from sin and turn to God.

  • The Church is the community of believers who gather in Jesus' name to love God, love each other, serve the world, and make more followers of Jesus.  The church is also responsible for carrying out Jesus' commands to Baptize new believers and administer The Lord's Supper.
