Our Mission and DNA

OUR MISSION

"To multiply disciples and churches for the glory of Christ and the blessing of all peoples."

The aim of our church is the aim of God's global promise in Genesis 12:1-3, which is "the glory of Christ among the nations and the blessing of all peoples."

We believe God's ordained method to accomplish this is: "to multiply disciples and churches." (Matthew 28:19-20)

OUR DNA

Our DNA determines who we are, and who we are has everything to do with accomplishing God’s mission.  So at The Promise we’re committed to embodying and passing on the following Kingdom DNA in order to fulfill our mission.

 THE GOSPEL

The Gospel is the overarching story of the entire Bible, and the foundation of the Christian life.  Simply put, the gospel is the good news that Jesus lived the righteous life we should've lived, and died the sinner's death we should've died.  He did this out of love for us though we didn't love Him.  He then rose from the dead to prove His power to forgive and save us.  Through faith in this good news, we are now declared righteous, reconciled to God, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, headed to heaven, freed from performance-based religion, and given all the resources of Christ.  That's amazing grace!  At the Promise we seek to fulfill God's mission as an overflow of gospel-centered lives and community.

LOVING CHRIST

We are called to love Christ by coming to Him just as we are through the gospel.  We draw near to Him as a response to His love, not to earn it.  We believe our relationship with Christ should be marked by learning and obeying His Word, intimate prayer and worship, surrender to his leadership, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.

LOVING ONE ANOTHER

We are called to love one another with the love we received from Christ.  We do this by serving and caring for one another with our spiritual gifts.  This love for one another is the basis for authentic gospel-centered communities marked by diversity, unity, transparency, and healing.

LOVING THE WORLD

We are called to love the world by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, and extending His shalom.  We believe this will happen when every Christian is reaching out to his/her oikos with the gospel, and serving the poor and hurting in the city.

MULTIPLICATION

We are called to multiply disciples and leaders as God’s ordained means to fulfill the Great Commission.   Multiplication happens when every believer is trained to not only be disciples but disciple-makers.  This will provide a replinishable source of new leaders and eventually new churches.  We seek to train and send people to multiply disciples and start new churches locally and globally.
